Biometric Authentication verifies identity by comparing a physical trait — fingerprint, face, iris, voice — against a template registered earlier, instead of asking for a secret the user has to remember. On modern devices that template stays in dedicated hardware and never leaves it; what the service receives is an assertion that the check succeeded, not the biometric itself. Its value in cybersecurity is resistance to phishing and password reuse; its cost is that a compromised trait cannot be reissued the way a password can.

Biometric Authentication plays an important role in building organizational resilience against cyber threats. Implementing appropriate mechanisms in this area is required by regulations such as NIS2, DORA and ISO 27001.
