Cyber Range is a simulated network environment built for cybersecurity training, exercises and tool testing, in which real attack techniques can be executed with no risk to production. It gives an analyst something a classroom cannot: the same tooling, telemetry and time pressure as a live incident, with the ability to reset and repeat. Organisations use ranges to rehearse incident response, to compare detection tooling under identical conditions, and to assess candidates on what they actually do rather than on what they say they would do.
Role in cybersecurity
Cyber Range plays an important role in building organizational resilience against cyber threats. Implementing appropriate mechanisms in this area is required by regulations such as NIS2, DORA and ISO 27001.
