Opinions on Cloud Services

Learn expert opinions on cloud services. Discover the benefits and challenges of implementing cloud in businesses. See how cloud services can support your organization's development.

Nearly 2/3 of companies are convinced of the positive impact of cloud services on ensuring business process continuity in the organization. Additionally, nearly half believe that public cloud increases data processing security. The opposite view, expressing the belief that using public cloud reduces security through loss of control over processed data, is held by 23% of companies participating in the survey. At the same time, 16% of organizations believe that using cloud may increase the risk of losing business process continuity.

These divergent opinions reflect differences in organizational maturity regarding cloud environment management. Companies that have implemented appropriate governance processes and security tools indeed benefit from the higher level of protection offered by leading cloud providers. Organizations migrating to the cloud without proper preparation expose themselves to new risks.

Statistics

  • Cloud services positively impact ensuring business process continuity – 60%. Geographic redundancy, automatic failover, and cloud provider SLAs often exceed the capabilities of own data centers.

  • Using cloud services increases the risk of losing business process continuity – 16%. This concern may stem from dependence on internet connectivity or experiences with provider outages.

  • Public cloud allows for significant improvement in processed data security level – 43%. Leading providers invest in security resources unattainable for most enterprises.

  • Public cloud is associated with loss of control over data processing and therefore reduces security level – 23%. The shared responsibility model requires clear understanding of duty division.

  • Business departments purchase cloud services bypassing the IT department and without risk analysis (so-called Shadow IT phenomenon) – 8%. This phenomenon poses serious compliance and security risks, requiring implementation of policies and CASB tools.
