In the era of digitization and a growing number of online threats, investment in IT security is essential. The funding aims to support local governments in IT security to ensure residents safe access to digital services and protection of their data.
In the era of digital revolution, local governments around the world face challenges related to adapting to new technologies and ensuring digital security for their residents. Polish local governments are no exception. The digital transformation process, which has been ongoing for several years, aims not only to optimize and improve the efficiency of performed tasks but above all to improve the accessibility and quality of service for residents.
However, along with the infinite possibilities that digitization brings, risks also appear. Cyberattacks, which take increasingly veiled forms, pose a real threat to the security of residents’ data and to the stability of local government operations. In the face of ongoing conflicts beyond our eastern borders, this threat becomes even more tangible.
On July 19, 2023, the “Cybersecure Local Government” project was inaugurated, aimed at supporting local governments in cybersecurity. Nearly PLN 1.9 billion will go to municipalities, counties, and voivodeships.
In response to these challenges, the Polish government initiated the “Cybersecure Local Government” project. Its main goal is to support local governments in cybersecurity, enabling them access to funds for purchasing modern technological solutions, employee training, and implementing effective security procedures. This project is of key importance for improving the overall level of digital security in Poland, thus protecting residents’ personal data and the country’s critical infrastructure.
The introduction of the “Cybersecure Local Government” project is not only an investment in technology but above all in people – in their security, privacy, and trust in state institutions. In the digital era, where the boundaries between the virtual and real world are becoming increasingly blurred, such actions are not only desirable but absolutely necessary.
What activities will be funded?

Who can benefit from the funding?
All Local Government Units, i.e., municipalities, counties, and voivodeship governments, have the opportunity to apply for financial resources to improve their IT security.
What are the application deadlines?
Local governments can submit applications from July 19, 2023 to September 30, 2023, until 4:00 PM. Don’t miss this deadline to take advantage of the opportunity to receive support.
What are the funding amounts?
The maximum grant amount is up to PLN 850,000. To find out which units and in what amount can receive funding, visit the official government website, where you will find a complete list of entities along with the amount allocated to them.
