What does the free AI deployment consultation cover?
The free consultation is a conversation held before deploying an AI or LLM system, in which we check four things: whether the data the model is to work on is ready and properly organised in terms of permissions, what AI Act risk category the planned system may fall into, whether uncontrolled use of AI tools (shadow AI) already exists in the organisation, and which platform — e.g. IBM watsonx, Azure OpenAI or Amazon Bedrock — fits the data requirements. The outcome is a set of recommended next steps.

What the consultation covers
The Free Consultation: Secure and Compliant AI Deployment is a conversation held before launching an AI-based system — an assistant, a RAG search engine, an agent or a decision-support model. Its goal is to establish where to start so that security and compliance are part of the project from the first stage.
During the consultation we go through four areas:
- Data readiness. What data is to reach the model, where it is stored, who has permissions to it and whether it contains personal data or trade secrets.
- Classification under the AI Act. We make an initial assessment of the organisation’s role — provider or deployer — and whether the planned system may be high-risk. Following the amendments introduced by the Digital Omnibus, requirements for high-risk systems listed in Annex III apply from 2 December 2027 (as of 7 October 2026).
- Starting point: shadow AI. We check whether employees already use public AI tools and whether the organisation has a policy for their use — this is often the first risk to address.
- Platform choice. We discuss the options — IBM watsonx, Azure OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock — in terms of data processing location, access control and existing infrastructure.
IBM watsonx is a platform with components for building models (watsonx.ai), data (watsonx.data) and model oversight (watsonx.governance), deployable in the cloud or on your own infrastructure. In the consultation it is one of the options considered, not an assumption of the project.

The consultation is for organisations that:
- are planning their first AI deployment and want to know where to start,
- have piloted an assistant or chatbot and are considering launching it for employees or customers,
- want to use internal documents, email or customer data in an AI system,
- do not know whether the planned system is subject to the AI Act requirements for high-risk systems,
- suspect that employees already use public AI tools without rules.

Is the consultation about a specific platform, such as IBM watsonx?
No. IBM watsonx is one of the options, alongside Azure OpenAI and Amazon Bedrock. We match the platform to requirements on where data is processed, existing infrastructure and the use case — and we design security controls independently of the model provider.
Does the consultation replace an AI Act compliance assessment?
No. During the consultation we make an initial classification: whether the system may be high-risk and what role the organisation plays. The full assessment — system inventory, gap analysis and action plan — is carried out as part of the AI Act readiness and AI governance service.
What will I receive after the consultation?
Recommended next steps: which risks need attention and whether you need a shadow AI assessment, an AI Act compliance assessment, an AI/LLM application pentest or a secure deployment project right away. The consultation carries no obligation to continue.
Can an AI system be deployed without sending data to the public cloud?
Some platforms, including IBM watsonx, can be deployed on the organisation's own infrastructure. Whether that option is needed depends on the type of data, regulatory requirements and client contracts — we discuss this during the consultation.
